Political career[edit]

Indian National Congress backed independent candidate Sheikh Imran was elected Deputy Mayor of Srinagar Municipal Corporation. He got 35 votes while his nearest rival Saleem Lone, an independent got 34 votes, while one vote got rejected Imran secured 35 Vote while his rival candidates for the deputy mayoral Post [5]

Former Srinagar deputy mayor Sheikh Imran was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today in a case related to the alleged misappropriation of crores of rupees from the Jammu and Kashmir Bank[7]
