The Shotgun Crips (SGC), stylized as the ShotGun Crips are a large and notable set of the Crips street gang.
Background[edit]
Little is known about the history of the Shotgun Crips other than the fact that they were founded in Gardena, California sometime during the 1970s. Some sources speculate the founding year was 1976 but this has yet to be confirmed.
The Shotgun Crips typically wear dark green and blue-colored clothing. In this context, the color green is representative of the city of Gardena whereas the color blue is the traditional color associated with the Crips. Members are known to sport apparel of the Green Bay Packers, with the "G" in their logo symbolizing "Gardenia" and/or "Gun".
Although initially formed in the state of California, the Shotgun Crips have since expanded their territory and operations to other US states including Minnesota, New York, Massachusetts and Oklahoma.
There exists three sets of the Shotgun Crips:
- 132nd street Shotgun Crips
- 134th street Shotgun Crips
- 139th street Shotgun Crips
