Shri Ram Chandra of Shahjahanpur affectionately known as Babuji is the founder of a spiritual organization called Shri Ram Chandra Mission (SRCM). He founded this organization in honor of his Master Shri Ram Chandra of Fatehgarh in 1945.[1]
From childhood, he had a strong craving for spiritual realization and tried many ways whatever he came across like idol worship, mantra chanting, religious book reading. But nothing satisfied him.[1]
In June of 1922 at the age of 22, after hearing the fame of Shri Ram Chandra Ji Maharaj of Fatehgarh, he went to see him. In the very first meditation session guided by him, he realized that his quest for God is going to be complete. He accepted him as his Master (Guru). It was coincident that both the man shared the same name.[2][1]
In a comparatively short interval of time, he developed mastery in heart-based meditation techniques with the transmission or pranahuti taught by his Master (Guru) Shri Ram Chandra of Fatehgarh. This yogic technique of heart-based meditation with transmission or pranahuti, is the basis for the Sahaj Marg system of Raja yoga. [2][1]
He traveled to many cities in India and spread the teachings of his Master and heart-based meditation method, after the death of his Master. This effort resulted in the establishment of many Shri Ram Chandra Mission (SRCM) meditation centers throughout India. In 1972, he took the Sahaj Marg system to Europe and America, accompanied by his attendant and general secretary of SRCM, Shri Parthasarathi Rajagopalachari of Chennai. Later Shri Ram Chandra Mission (SRCM) spread all over the world. [1]
