Shropshire Family History Society

The Shropshire Family History Society is a family history society that covers the county of Shropshire, England, United Kingdom (sometimes known as "Salop").

It was founded in 1979 to provide a meeting place in Shropshire for all those interested in family history and genealogy and a focal point for those with Shropshire roots.

The Society is a Registered Charity with approximately 1500 members around the World.

It produces a quarterly journal. Publication is scheduled for March, June, September and December.

10 monthly meetings take place at Cross Houses, nr Shrewsbury, the county town, from September to June, usually with a speaker, items for sale and a helpdesk, and a fair is held on the first Saturday in June.

The Society attends many fairs, rallies and events around Shropshire and the adjoining regions plus some National Events with a selection of databases and knowledgeable staff to try to answer visitors' family history questions. Events

It is a member of the Family History Federation.
