Siamak Mardaneh (Persian: سیامک مردانه; born 9 September 1985) is an Iranian assistant director, production planner, actor and film & television director. He is best known for directing the legal crime drama series Mahkoum (2025) and for his behind-the-scenes work on several Iranian film and television productions.[1]
Early life and education
Mardaneh was born in Bandar-e Mahshahr, Khuzestan, into a military–medical family; his father served as an officer in the Iranian Navy and his mother worked as a nurse. During the Iran–Iraq War, the family relocated from Abadan to Shahrak Jarahi (Shahid Chamran).[2]
After the death of his father in 1995, the family returned to Bandar Mahshahr. As a teenager, Mardaneh joined local theatre groups before beginning academic studies in Building Construction at Shahid Chamran University in Ahvaz and later Civil Engineering at Azad University.
Career
Throughout the 2000s, Mardaneh worked in production and logistics on several Iranian films before transitioning into assistant directing and production planning.
Directing
In 2025, he made his directorial debut with the legal crime drama Mahkoum, produced by Mohammadreza Mansouri and released on Iranian VOD platforms including Filimo and Narengi.[3]
The series received significant media coverage, with both praise and criticism published in major Iranian outlets including Mehr, IRNA, Asriran and Shargh Daily.[4][5]

Media reception
National newspapers and cultural critics commented on Mahkoum, focusing on performances, makeup design and narrative themes.[10][11] According to an interview published by On-News, Mardaneh stated that he was initially surprised when he was offered the responsibility of directing Mahkoum. He explained that the project was a demanding production and, as his first fully independent directing experience, carried significant pressure and expectations.[12]
