Siamak Taghaddos is an Iranian born American entrepreneur and investor, best known for co-founding the Grasshopper Group, a virtual telephone service acquired by the Citrix Systems.[1][2] Taghaddos is a founding member of the National Entrepreneurs' Day and has co-founded a number of tech companies including Grasshopper, Chargify, PopSurvey and Airbag Ventures.[3]
Early life and education[edit]
Taghaddos was born in Iran and grew up in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated from Babson College with a Bachelor of Science degree in entrepreneurship and marketing in 2003.
While attending high school, Taghaddos founded an online distribution company offering discounted pagers for students throughout the United States.[4] He also developed business and marketing strategies for College Coach, LLC.
Career[edit]
While studying at Babson College, he met David Hauser and they planned to start a virtual telephone service to small businesses.[5] In February 2003, they launched GotVMail Communications, which gave customers a toll-free or local number to use for incoming calls. They later rebranded GotVMail to Grasshopper in 2007.[6][7] He served as its Chief Executive Officer[8] until 2015 before it was sold to Citrix Systems.[9][10]
In 2009, Taghaddos co-founded Chargify, a recurring billing and subscription management company and initially it received funding from Mark Cuban. It was acquired by Scaleworks in 2016. Taghaddos and Hauser together also started survey service PopSurvey.[11]
In 2011, both Taghaddos and Hauser were named in 2011 Inc magazine’s 30 under 30 list[12] and Under30CEO's 30 most influential young entrepreneurs list.[13] He was also named to BusinessWeek's Top 5 Under 25 entrepreneurs and Boston Business Journal's 2005 "40 Under 40" and American Venture Magazine 40 Under 40 Business Leaders.
Investments[edit]
Taghaddos has invested in several technology companies including Storenvy, Intercom, Scaleworks, LaunchBit and Unbounce.[14][15] He has been featured in various business publications including the Wall Street Journal, Boston Globe, CNN, FOX News, and others.
