Emile Bryan "Sid" Edwards is an American politician who is the mayor-president of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.[1] A Republican, he was elected in the 2024 Baton Rouge mayoral election after defeating the incumbent mayor-president Sharon Weston Broome in a runoff election held on December 7, 2024.[2] He was sworn in on January 2, 2025.[3]
Edwards was the head football coach and dean of students of Istrouma High School. He previously taught at Catholic High School, Redemptorist High School, Jesuit High School, and Central High School. At the time he was elected, he had not cast a ballot in over eight years.[4]
