The Siege of Jeddah in 1520 was a failed attack by the Portuguese commanded by Diogo Lopes de Sequeira.[1]
In 1517 the Portuguese besieged Jeddah but they were defeated by Selman Reis.[1] Three years later in 1520 the Portuguese attempted another offensive against Jeddah.[2] Under the command of Diogo Lopes de Sequeira the Portuguese fleet was composed of 24 sails and 1,800 men.[2] The Portuguese commander attempted an attack against Jeddah, however Selman Reis successfully defended Jeddah and defeated the Portuguese with his tactics.[1]
