The Sikelia Cup is an international football competition organized by the Sicilian Football Association. It was established in 2023 and is held in Sicily, initially hosted in the city of Caltanissetta.
The tournament features the Sicily national football team against invited representative or national teams. The format is expected to evolve into a four-team competition from 2026, with matches potentially played in multiple Sicilian cities, including Catania, Palermo, Messina, Trapani and Syracuse.
The inaugural edition in 2023 saw Sicily defeat Corsica 1–0, with Davis Curiale scoring the only goal.[1] In 2025, Sicily hosted a team representing Côte d'Ivoire Ligue 1 and won 5–1.[2]
Format
The Sikelia Cup began as a one-off friendly match between Sicily and an invited opponent. Matches are played over 90 minutes and, if tied, may go directly to a penalty shootout, though this has not yet occurred.
From 2026, the tournament is expected to expand to four teams in a knockout format including semi-finals and a final. A third-place playoff may also be introduced, but final details are yet to be confirmed.
