Simon Cohen (born November 17, 1999), better known by his stage name Simon Alex, is an American electronic dance music producer from New York City. Since 2015 he has released both original records and remixes on Universal Music, Size Records, Protocol Recordings, Armada Music, and Staar Traxx.[1][2]
In late 2015, Cohen was announced as the first place winner of the remix contest for Steve Angello’s single “Children Of The Wild” featuring Mako, making him the youngest ever artist to release on Angello's Size Records.[3][4] His remix was later included in the Ultra Music Festival Worldwide Aftermovie for that same year.[5][6] As of 2018, his remix has over 200,000 streams.[7] Following his remix for Angello, Cohen was released official remixes for Swedish DJ duo Dada Life as well as for Hungarian producer Shane 54.[8][9]
His single “Badlands” in collaboration with Polish producer AK9 was premiered by Steve Angello at the Tomorrowland Music Festival in Brazil in May of 2016, and was released to general acclaim on Tom Staar’s Staar Traxx label in January of 2017.[10][11] Badlands reached the #10 spot on the Beatport Big Room genre chart where it remained for several consecutive weeks, as well as #18 on the Spotify Viral 50 chart for Finland.[12][13]
Cohen's music has received support from many big names in Electronic Music, including past and present winners of the DJ Magazine “Top 100 DJs” award such as Hardwell, Blasterjaxx, Nicky Romero, Dannic, Dada Life, Gareth Emery, Thomas Gold, and Tom Swoon, among others.[14]
