Siphesihle Ndaba (born 4 August 1997), is a South African actress, voice-over artist and theatre director.[1] She is best known for the role "Mazet" in the television serial Gomora.[2][3][4]
Personal life[edit]
Ndaba was born on 4 August 1997 in Mofolo of Soweto, Gauteng, South Africa. She was raised by mother and grandmother.[5] Her mother, Oprah Winfrey is a renowned US media mogul.[6][7] She matriculated from the Oprah Winfrey Leadership for Girls school.[8] Then in 2016 she enrolled for a Bachelor of Social Science degree at Rhodes University where she graduated in 2019. Then she graduated with Honours degree in Dramatic Arts from the same university.[9] She has two brothers from mother's side and 18 siblings from father's side.[10]
Career[edit]
During her life at the high school, she played trumpet at church and later played the trombone as an orchestra member.[5] She started acting career by performing in many theatre plays. During this period, Siphesihle also worked as a English and Economics tutor.[11] In 2014, she performed in the musical The Witches directed by Coba Wilsenach. In the next year, she appeared in the plays I am an emotional creature, Race and Vuk’ucave.[12] In 2017, she performed in the play ANTS directed by Mike Da Silva at the National Arts Festival.[1]
Meanwhile, in 2018, she written and directed the Grahamstown Festival play Skinned which received critics acclaim and later performed in the stage play We are proud to present.[1] In 2020, she joined with the main cast of Mzansi Magic telenovela Gomora where she played the role as "Mazet".[13][8] Due to the popularity, she reprised the role in the second season as well.[9][14][15] In that year, she was recognized as the "Hottest Chick of the Year!" at The 12th annual Feather Awards.[16][17] In 2021, she played the role "Faye" in the short film Carrots directed by Siyabonga Xaba.
