Skillpointe
SkillPointe is an American career exploration platform that supports in-demand skilled trades.[1][2][3][4]
History[edit]
The platform was created in 2020 by Todd Wilson, who spent 15 years as the chief financial officer of NASCAR.[5]
Wilson has said he started Skillpointe to help reshape public perception of skilled trades as “an opportunity, not a stereotype.”[6]
Skills-based careers[edit]
Skillpointe helps introduce users to skills-based careers, connects them with nearby training programs, and shares job openings.[1][3][4]
Skillpointe focuses on skills-based careers that are in high demand, have high earnings potential, and require a relatively low amount of training.[3][7][8]
SkillPointe coordinates a national database of more than 50,000 training programs from community colleges, trade programs and technical schools. The site also aggregates more than 300,000 active job openings.[1][3][9]
SkillPointe focuses on careers that can be attained through trade school, apprenticeship, earn-and-learn programs, certifications and community college degrees.[4]
Nonprofit work[edit]
The SkillPointe Foundation, the nonprofit arm of SkillPointe, has raised more than $2 million and funded more than 650 scholarships nationwide.[10][11][12][13]
