Biography[edit]

Slava was born on June 25, 1964 in the city of Shymkent (formerly Chymkent) USSR, and moved to Moscow with his parents at an early age. Slava’s path to the profession of acting began at the age of 16 as a member of a puppet theater. After graduating from high school in 1983, he entered GITIS ([Russian Academy of Theatre Arts]) in the course of I.G.Sharoev.

In December 1987, Slava emigrated to the United States, specifically New York, where he continued to study acting and dramatic arts at the NYC School of American Place Theater. While landing roles in movies, TV shows, and commercials, Slava’s intense interest in photography also began to grow.

In 1996, Schoot began his parallel career as a professional photographer, taking portraits of actors for his portfolio. Shortly after, in 1998, he and a partner formed a creative tandem called «Standartstudio». While the main focus of this collaboration was Industrial photography, Slava continued to improve his Portraiture portfolio with various subjects (such as the 50th anniversary of the New York City Ballet), working with advertising agencies and style magazines. In 2002, «Standartstudio» began working in Moscow, with Slava continuing to act in both English language and Russian films.[1] [2]

The creative Studio also started producing footage for leading publications and advertising agencies (magazines: Vogue, GQ, L'Officiel, Jalouse, L'Optimum, Esquire, Elle, Bazaar, FHM, Maxim, AD, etc., advertising agencies: Saatchi & Saatchi, DDB, McCannErickson, Video International, BBDO, etc. brands: Beeline, Pilsner, Khortitsa, Tervolina, CasaDecor, corporate clients: United Shipbuilding Corporation, Norilsk Nickel, Rusnano, Polyus Gold, Alrosa, Russian Copper Company, Russian Post, etc.) and participated in the creation of photobanks for large Russian companies. For all this work, «Standartstudio» has won various prestigious competitions (The Best of Russia 2011, 2013, 2014, "The most beautiful country" in the framework of the project "Russian Geographical Society" 2015, 2016, "The Epson international Pano Awards 2012"), and others.[2]
