Alexander James Swartwout, (born 31 January 1990) better known by his alias Slippy (previously known as Slips & Slurs), is an American trap producer.[1][2]
History[edit]
2016[edit]
On 29 April 2016, Swartwout collaborated with English bass music producer Mihka! to release WiFi Tears on the Canadian record label Monstercat. Landon Fleury praised the dubstep drop, stating "Neither artist is very familiar to the genre, but together, they managed to create one of the arguably best dubstep drops Monstercat has seen this year".[3]
On 5 July, Swartwout released Wanted as part of a compilation album by American record label CSGOD. Matthew Meadow of Your EDM reviewed Wanted, stating "Wanted positions itself among the myriad of intense dubstep bangers that have come out in the past year, but something about it just seems inherently more intense. Perhaps it’s the pervasive and unrelenting bassline or the masterful mixing, but something about the track seems fuller and more satisfying".[4]
On 7 July, Swartwout released a VIP of his 2015 song, Divided as part of Monstercat's 5 Year Anniversary album, later releasing Break The Silence, a collaboration with Richard Caddock, WRLD, Nitro Fun & Subtact as part of the same album.[5][6]
2017[edit]
On 25 January 2017, Swartwout released Haunted via Monstercat, with Nick Grindrod of By The Wavs stating "This may not seem like a song that you need to listen all the way through to appreciate, but it is, specifically because the orchestral outro is a mark of genius that could only come from a very talented producer".[7] Swartwout later released Haunted VIP via Monstercat as a free release.[8]
On 27 March, Swartwout collaborated with Portuguese electronic music producer Holly to release Turmoil via Monstercat. Landon Fleury of Your EDM stated "Turmoil is everything we could have hoped for in Slippy’s grand return to trap. Utilizing his newfound skills in dubstep production, Slips & Slurs has crafted an exceptional work of hybrid trap. With its booming bass, clever vocal chops and metallic second drop, the song can be compared with some of NGHTMRE‘s best, maybe even Street status".[9]
On 8 May, Swartwout collaborated with English electronic music producers Stonebank and Rogue to release Unity as an album-exclusive song to Monstercat's first Uncaged compilation album, Monstercat Uncaged Vol. 1. Mikaela Wilkerson of This Song Slaps stated "Appropriately named, this is the traptastic unification of the these three talented artists and the product is a flawless blend of their own vibes and sounds".[10][11]
On 24 July, Swartwout collaborated with American bass producer Reach to release That Sound via Monstercat. Iuliana Prichea of EDM Nations stated "The heart-pounding single is a powerful fusion of these two producers signature styles resulting in an amalgamation of heavy hitting basslines, clever switchups, and unrelenting energy".[12]
2018[edit]
On 22 February 2018, Swartwout released Promise Me via Monstercat, the first song of his to be released after his alias change from Slips & Slurs to Slippy. Lennon Cihak of Noiseporn stated "Without unleashing an immense amount of energy at any given point, the track remains subtle and, well, promising".[13]
