The Societas Uralo-Altaica is an international association of scholars working in the fields of Uralic and Altaic studies.
History[edit]
The Societas Ural-Altaica was founded on July 31, 1952 as part of the 12th Deutsche Orientalistentag in Bonn, Germany. In its founding statute, the organization outlined its goals as encouraging the cooperation of scholars around the world and the organization of studies in Uralic (Finno-Ugric and Samoyedic) and Altaic (Turkic, Tungusic, Mongolic, and Korean) philology.[1]
