The Society for Text and Discourse (ST&D) is an international academic society composed of researchers from various disciplines—including cognitive psychology, linguistics, artificial intelligence, and education—who investigate the comprehension and production of text and discourse.[1]
The Society was founded in 1990, with its first official meeting hosted in 1991 at the University of Chicago by pioneer researchers including Tom Trabasso, Arthur C. Graesser, and Bruce Britton.[2] The primary objective of the Society is to consolidate research in discourse processing and to promote interdisciplinary collaboration across the cognitive sciences.
The official academic journal of the Society is Discourse Processes, which publishes empirical and theoretical papers on the cognitive, social, and linguistic dimensions of language and text.[3]
