Early life[edit]

Sohail Haider, the youngest child of his family, born in Karachi, Pakistan . Cricket was his passion and he tried to pursue his passion and gave more time to sports than any other activities. He joined cricket academy and was successful in playing for under-16 Pakistani Team as captain and then he was also selected for under-19 team as vice-captain. He used to be an all-rounder with open chest right arm fast bowling style and right-handed batsman, being a great threat to the opponent. But due to some issues he opted to leave his passion.[2]

Education[edit]

Sohail Haider completed his initial schooling from Ali-Ali School, Gulshan-e-Iqbal followed by Bright Star School from where he completed his matriculation then did his Intermediate from Islamia Commerce College and then ended up doing Masters from KUBS.

Career[edit]

Sohail has acquired the interest of music from his mother. His mother used to have a cassette player on which she used to listen the music. She also had an amazing voice, but she never sang. She used to recite majalis and marsiye only[3]

Following the passion that he inherited from his mother, he joined an academy present in Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi where he started learning music. As he used to listen songs/ghazals with his mother, he fortunately memorized every ghazal not only the lyrics but all the music, sur, taal, leh, and delivery. Luckily when he was practicing at Arts Council, he met The great Mehdi Hasan in the academy where he sang his ghazal infront of him and he appreciated him for that. Some representatives of PTV were also there who heard Sohail and his luck strikes hard there. Sohail was asked by Ustad Niyaz ahmed to sing with Benjamin Sisters on the occasion of 14th August. Mentioning here that singing with Benjamin Sisters was a dream come true for any singer. The song "Wo Ehad kia tha Wafaein kia thien, Laboun p apne sadaein kia thin" sung with Benjamin Sisters won the best award among all 5 stations of PTV (Regional HQs and Federal) and it became the most popular song of its time.[4]

Meanwhile, his mother gifted him a Harmonium, which was specially imported for him from India. It was an antique piece which worth 30,000 of that time. On that harmonium, Sohail started to practice but did not seek any assistance from any teacher. Then he started his appearances on PTV program Ghazal Siraye. Sohail was lucky enough to be the student of Ustad Niyaz Ahmed but for 3 months only.

After his intermediate, he also established his band named Evolution in 2003, did some concerts nationally and internationally but had to leave the band because Sohail’s Genre was of pure Ghazal and classic where as the Band used to sing Pop and Rock. It was felt by Sohail himself that he is unable to give his 100% so he opted to quit. With this time, he also started writing and composing songs. He then joined multiple music legends and worked with them.[5]

Despite of his music interest, his elder brother insisted him to go abroad for Further studies. During his back to back visits to Consultants for student’s visa, he got a call from Imran from the Fusion Band and he asked him to stay and work for him. Immo bhai also talked to his mother and convinced her to make him do music for which he is actually made. Initially Immo bhai launched his first music video "Piyar hojaega"[6] and then he started writing and composing music for him. All the commercials of Coca Cola, Bonanza and other brands were made by Sohail Haider at that time. After 5-6 years, He left Immo bhai and took all his rejected commercial songs, released them and made his first and only album.

He then got an opportunity to sing for the biggest drama of Pakistan Television history, Dastaan, a multi-starrer drama.[7]

Sohail Haider then did different OST's like Sitamgar, Ishq mein teray, Dharkan, Haya ke daman mein, Khatti meethi zindagi,<ref> jithani, Mere Qatil Mere Dildar, Duniya Bhola Kay Tere Piyar Mein, Dhol bajne laga, and many more. He also composed various songs like Hasad, Khass, Beti jaisi,
