Somali Inside News (SIN) is an online publication and daily newspaper based in Somalia, founded in 2010 by young Somalis living in the homeland.[1]
Creation
Somali Inside News (SIN) was founded in 2010 by Somali youth living in the homeland. Its website publishes daily reports and analyses of local and regional news in Somali and English,[2][3] with an emphasis on Somali affairs.[4] They also hold a forum to debate and discuss important issues that concern the youth community.[5]
Audience
In 2011, SIN was one of the most popular websites in Somalia and was an elite news source there, "accessed online every morning by ministers and officials," according to a BBC analysis.[6]
As of 2013, Somalia didn't have many significant newspapers outside of Somaliland and Puntland, owing to its decades of conflict.[7] SIN is among the main sources of news for the public in Somalia as well as the diaspora.[6] The website publishes news in both the Somali language and English.[8][9]
