Somdip Dey (born December 13, 1990 in Kolkata, India[1][2]) is an Indian computer scientist, technology journalist[3] and entrepreneur. Dey is most notable for his work in making artificial intelligence affordable and accessible in developing countries.[4]

Dey currently[when?] works at the University of Essex and Samsung R&D Institute UK[5] as an artificial intelligence researcher in embedded systems.[6][7] One of his projects is "foodonomics". Foodonomics uses artificial intelligence and other computing technologies to reduce food waste.[8][9] Dey's other research work includes developing algorithms in smartphones using artificial intelligence to learn the user's application usage behavior, and optimize the phone for improved performance, energy efficiency and the phone's temperature.[10]

Dey is also an editor of academic journals and magazines like Frontiers in Blockchain: Fourth Industrial Revolution.[11][12]
