Song of Spring and Autumn[1] is a 2011 Chinese historical television series based on events that occurred in the Jin state during the Spring and Autumn period of ancient China. The series was directed by Zhang Haolan and Liu Guonan and starred Gallen Lo, Bao Guo'an, He Bing, Kristy Yang, Joe Ma and Chen Zhihui in the lead roles.
Plot[edit]
The series is set in Jin, a ducal state under the Zhou dynasty, during the Spring and Autumn period. The story starts with Jie Zhitui (as "Jie Zitui") as a central character and gradually develops until the events of the Li Ji Unrest. Chong'er, a son of Duke Xian of Jin, is forced to go into exile for 19 years due to the political disturbance. After enduring numerous hardships, Chong'er eventually regains control of his state with help from Duke Mu of Qin and becomes posthumously known as "Duke Wen of Jin". Apart from striving to bring prosperity to Jin, Duke Wen also assists King Xiang of Zhou in overcoming the traitorous Prince Dai and reclaiming the throne and wins a decisive victory in the Battle of Chengpu against the Chu state. Duke Wen eventually emerges as one of the Five Hegemons in the Spring and Autumn period.
