Sonia Mackwani is a social entrepreneur in India, author, and script-writer.[1] She is the Founder & Director of Touching Lives,[2][3] a Mumbai based NGO, which works for child education.[4] She spoke at TEDx IBA Bangalore in 2013.[5] She is the script writer of short film "ABC".[6]
Mackwani obtained her initial degree from Mithibai College and obtained her Masters in Clinical Psychology from University of Mumbai and her Masters in Clinical Hypnotherapy from California Hypnosis Institute Of India (CHII). Mackwani founded ‘Touching Lives’ in 2003 while in college.[7] It was registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act in 2006.[8]
‘Touching Lives’ runs Learning Centers within the slums and in a rented space around the slums. The Learning Center provides resources that avail children a conducive and encouraging environment for learning and healing.[9][10]

Her album Power Minutes with Times Music for effective was in March 2015.
Her script for the film 'ABC was selected in a National Script-writing Competition by Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC) & Shamiana Short films.[12] The film won the Special Jury Award at the 4th Delhi Shorts International Film festival in 2015.[13]
Awards and recognitions
- Sonia Mackwani was selected as one of the winners in the #100 Women initiative by Ministry of Women and Child Development, India. She was felicitated at Rashtrapati Bhavan on 22 January 2016 by Hon. President of India Pranab Mukherjee.[14]
