Sonic.exe The Disaster 2D Remake is a asymmetrical massively multiplayer online survival-horror fan-game developed by members of EXE Empire. As its name implies, the game is a recreation of the Roblox game Sonic.EXE: The Disaster, aiming towards adapting and rebalancing the game into the 16-bit two-dimensional environment. The game was also made as apart of LuigiKid Gaming's ".EX3 challenge". The game was initially released as a demo on June 15, 2023 following a full game release on July 27, 2023 on Game Jolt.

Gameplay

Sonic.exe The Disaster 2D Remake is a 2-dimensional asymmetrical online multiplayer side-scrolling platformer game. Before a match, players must vote on a map. There are a total of currently 18 maps that players can choose. After a map is selected, a random player is selected to be the murderer and all must select their character. There are a total of 10 characters that players can select (6 survivors and 4 murderers).

Once all have selected, the round begins. Players are spawned in random places throughout the map. All characters come with a set of abilities, which are all used for benefit. There will be a timer counting down, which begins at different times depending on the player amount. As a survivor, you are required to avoid the murderer and attempt not to be attacked. As the murderer, your objective is to locate all survivors and attack and kill them. When there is one minute remaining, a green ring will spawn somewhere on the map. Players are required to find this ring and jump into it to escape. After the round has ended, a screen displaying the results from the round will be present.
