Sophia Bartholomew

Sophia Bartholomew (born 1987)[1] is a Canadian interdisciplinary artist and writer, who frequently works in performance art, and other time-based media. Bartholomew is a queer, non-binary femme that uses the pronouns they/them.[2][3] They are currently based in Fredericton, New Brunswick.[3]

Biography[edit]

Bartholomew was born in Ontario in 1987, and raised in the Pacific Northwest.[4] They completed a BFA degree at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in 2012.[3]

Bartholomew was the Associate Director of Connexion Artist-Run Centre in Fredericton, New Brunswick from 2012 until 2015.[5][6]

They have published writing with Untitled Art Society, Canadian Art magazine, and cmagazine.[7][self-published source?] Along with co-writer Emma Hicks, Bartholomew published Trois Chapitres (2016),[8] a three chapter bilingual publication for the Galérie Louise-et-Reuben-Cohen, with French language texts edited by Madeleine Blanchard. Prior to that, Bartholomew self-published I had a dream last night and you were there in 2015 for the exhibition Frontier at Sometimes Art Space.[9][self-published source?]
