Sophie Mirman

Early life[edit]
She was educated at a French-speaking school in west London.
Career[edit]
She began at M&S, working for the chief executive.
Sock Shop[edit]
She founded Sock Shop with her husband in 1983, situated in a London tube station. She became chairman of the company.
At its height, Sock Shop was worth £72m, making her the 188th richest person in the UK.[2]. Sock Shop began losing money in February 1990. It had debts of £16m and was sold in July 1990.
She won Businesswoman of the Year in March 1988.[3]
