Beatrice Fischel-Bock is the co-founder and CEO of the company Hutch, a virtual interior design application and website.[1][2]

Early life and education[edit]

Beatrice Fischel-Bock attended high school at Ransom Everglades, an elite college preparatory in Miami from 2005 to 2009. Fischel-Bock graduated from The George Washington University with a B.A. degree in Fine Arts and Interior Architecture and Design, and now resides in Los Angeles, California.[3][4]

Hutch[edit]

Fischel-Bock launched Hutch, an application and website platform that allows users to virtually redecorate and purchase items for their home, in the fall of 2012 during her senior year at George Washington University. The site provides users with an ability to photograph their rooms, then add virtual 3D furniture or decor using recommendations it provides. The user can buy the items or save their virtual designs for the future.[1] The company raised $17.4 million from rounds of funding, including $10 million from Zillow, a real estate database. [1] Fischel-Bock credits her mentor, Tinder founder Sean Rad, for his influence and guidance.[1] The two met on Shark Tank, a TV show in which aspiring entrepreneurs pitch company ideas, through which Rad introduced Fischel-Bock to Hutch's two other co-founders.[2]

Fischel-Bock states that the inspiration for Hutch came during her time at George Washington University, when she and her co-founders "began to realize that many of our peers were desperate for design advice. We began virtually designing our friends' apartments and within a year earned $1 million in revenue."[5]

Beatrice Fischel-Bock was named Forbes 30 Under 30 in Retail & Ecommerce in 2018.[6]
