The South Woodham Ferrers Council Taxpayers Association (SWFCTA) is a political party in the United Kingdom. The party was launched in 2011 and is based in South Woodham Ferrers, contesting elections to Chelmsford City Council and Essex County Council[1]. The party promotes localist policies and aims to "seek the best value for taxpayers in South Woodham Ferrers"[2].
The SWFCTA currently holds two seats on Chelmsford City Council.
Background and electoral history[edit]
The party was founded in 2011 as "South Woodham Ferrers Independents" and began contesting elections that same year, but failed to win any seats on Chelmsford Borough Council. Its first seat was won in a 2013 by-election by Ian Roberts[3], but he lost the seat in the 2015 election[4]. In 2019 the party gained two seats on Chelmsford City Council from the Conservatives.
