Soy Chicano Rap is the fourth studio album by American rapper Serio. It was released on February 13, 2013.[1]
Background[edit]
Prior to the release of the album, the single, "Dont Hate Me Because Im Mexican" featuring Proper Dos and Conejo was released on April 12, 2012.[2][3] With the song, Serio aimed to bring attention to Arizona SB 1070 and challenged how unfair the law really was. It seemed to legalize racial profiling that specifically targeted Mexican immigrants living in the United States. This song also raised awareness on how the new law might affect not only Mexican immigrants but might also cause problems for any American of Hispanic descent.[citation needed]
In 2014, the track "They're Just Jealous" became a number-one hit from the album as being placed into heavy rotation.[4]
