SparkPost is a SaaS company that allows applications and websites to send transactional email and also provides analytics services for site and app administrators.[2] SparkPost's enterprise clients include Pinterest, the New York Times, and Booking.com. The SparkPost platform sends more than 3.2 trillion emails per year[3][4][5] and the company has offices in San Francisco, Maryland, and London.[6][7]
General[edit]
SparkPost was introduced in November 2014, but parent company Message Systems was founded in 2008 by George and Theo Schlossnagle.[8][9] When introduced in 2014, SparkPost was Message Systems' cloud-based solution, as differentiated from the company's on premise offering, Momentum.[10] In August 2015, Message Systems adopted SparkPost as the company name,[11] and by 2018 the company had received $65 million in venture capital funding.[12] SparkPost acquired Port25 Solutions in February 2015,[13] and announced the purchase of eDataSource in October 2019.[14]
Features & Innovation[edit]
SparkPost allows organizations and companies to send transactional emails associated with onboarding, activation, product information and updates, and password resets.[15] Sparkpost includes email templates, regulatory compliance, predictive analytics, engagement analytics, and AMP for email which rolled out in 2019.[16] A dashboard provides data on email acceptances, rejections and bounces, delays, engagements and associated messaging events.[15] With the acquisition of eDataSource’s InBox Tracker and Competitive Tracker, SparkPost gained access to querying and reporting tools[17] that present email analytics, inbox reporting, and deliverability optimization in a single interface.[18]
SparkPost performs email validation by checking recipient addresses against their data set of previously sent emails, and avoids using slower SMTP authentication for email validation, a method that is discouraged by internet service providers.[19] SparkPost supports AMP email that allow Gmail recipients to receive dynamic and interactive emails.[20] As of 2019, SparkPost included a predictive intelligence tool that rates the expected performance of email campaigns by using machine learning and a historical data set that includes trillions of emails.[21] [22]
SparkPost client libraries are open source and available to developers[23] through Github.[24] SparkPost also provides a plugin for WordPress [25][26] and a module for Drupal[27] .
