Sparrow SMS is a telecommunications value-added service provider based in Nepal. Founded in 2010, the company offers bulk SMS services, voice messaging, WhatsApp Business Mesasing, Viber Business messaging, and API-based communication solutions for businesses.[1]
History
Sparrow SMS began operations in 2010 during a period of limited internet access and frequent power outages in Nepal. The company initially focused on providing SMS-based information services to connect individuals and businesses.[1]
In 2014, The Kathmandu Post listed Sparrow SMS among the top ten Nepali brands on Facebook, based on follower count, highlighting its early adoption of digital platforms for audience engagement.[2]
In 2019, Sparrow SMS signed a memorandum of understanding with Nepal’s Department of Transport Management (DoTM) to provide driving licence status updates and written test results via SMS, enabling service seekers to receive updates without visiting DoTM offices.[3]
