History
The company was known as Spartan-Redheugh, part of the Firth Group (North East of England), until 2001, when Gruppo Malacalza of Italy bought the steel manufacture site and set up a new company named Spartan UK.[1] In February 2008, Malacalza sold Spartan UK & Trametal Spa[2] to Metinvest, the vertically integrated mining & metals group from Ukraine.
Production
Spartan UK is part of the Steel & Rolled Product Division of Metinvest Holding LLC,[3] along with Trametal and Valsider of Italy. Together the three companies have more than 1 million tonnes of flat product capacity (quarto plates & coil).[4] Spartan manufactures a wide range of high quality carbon steel plate for construction, heavy engineering and other consuming industries.
