spieletipps.de is a German web portal that deals with tips, tricks (cheats), news and tests for video games on various platforms.

History[edit]

The spieletipps project (with one "p" instead of two back then before the spelling reform) was founded in 1998 by Thorsten Rühl. The idea was that users could send in their own tips and tricks about their games and every other user could read them. In 2000 the project was renamed to Spieletipps GmbH. In 2006, Spieletipps GmbH was renamed to Brot und Spiele GmbH. According to Arbeitsgemeinschaft Online Forschung (AGOF), as of November 2014, the website was among the top 100 most visited websites in Germany with more than 2.5 million unique users.[1] In 2015, GIGA Digital AG bought spieletipps.[2][3] On May 1, 2017, editor in chief Joachim Hesse passed his position on to Markus Rehmann.[4]

The gamona.de website now redirects to spieletipps. The editorial team of gamona.de dealt mainly with reporting, tests and reviews, media collections and solution aids about computer games. The site also reported a lot about MMOs and e-sports.
