Spirits is an independent American rock band from Portland, Oregon, formed in 2017. They released their first single, "Anchors" on May 19th, 2018 with an accompanying music video, their second single, "Forever & Always", on February 23, 2019, and their debut EP, Novellas, was released on May 17, 2019.

The band's line-up currently consists of lead vocalist Sean Beard, guitarist and vocalist Riley Rose, bassist Matt Lüeck, and drummer Jackson Coffey.

Musical style, themes, and influences[edit]

Spirits' musical style has been described as emo[2][4], metalcore[2][4], post-hardcore[1][4][5], rock[2][4], and pop-punk. Their music features elements of screamo, melodic death metal[2], symphonic metal[2], punk rock[1], and hardcore punk[1].

Their lyrical content revolves around topics such as addiction, isolation, anger, depression and suicidal thoughts or actions, which the band's members themselves battle with daily[6].

The band's influences include The Amity Affliction, A Day To Remember[5], Blink-182, The Used[7], AFI, Amon Amarth, My Chemical Romance[7], Senses Fail, Hawthorne Heights, Taking Back Sunday[7], Misfits[7], Incubus[7], Box Car Racer[7], Machine Gun Kelly[7], and Coheed and Cambria[7][8]
