"Spitfire" is a song by Psychedelic trance band Infected Mushroom.[1][2] Spitfire was released on 24 November 2017, by independent electronic music label Monstercat.[3][4]

Background and composition[edit]

On 16 November 2017, Erez Eisen and Amit Duvdevani of Infected Mushroom officially announced their new single titled Spitfire on Twitter, further announcing that the song would be released through the Canadian record label Monstercat.[5]

Reception and release[edit]

Farrell Sweeney of Dancing Astronaut noted "Spitfire" for its blend of genres, stating that it "blends techno, psytrance, and an upbeat bass line making the track perfect for any underground rave mood".[3] Jim Babaoglu of EDM Sauce praised the song, stating "Infected's complex synthesized compositions are works of art and the perfect way for Monstercat to introduce this genre to its fans".[2][unreliable source?]

Landon Fleury of Your EDM generally liked the song in his review, stating:

Diving straight into the soul of psy, "Spitfire" is a 7-minute epic that infuses elements of metal and Indian music with its sweeping synthesizers and thumping bass lines. It’s definitely not the most “out there” song when it comes to psychedelic music, but will give fans unexposed fans a good taste of what the psytrance world has to offer.[4]

Tori Matthews of Raver Rafting said the song left the staff "feeling we just experienced an [sic] powerful trip and our fingers keep reaching for the repeat button."[6][unreliable source?]
