SportPursuit Ltd is a London-based[1] multinational[2] sports retailer, offering discounts off branded sports apparel[3] covering cycling, hiking, snow sports and triathlon.[4]
The company is the UK’s first and fastest growing[5] sport-specific flash sales website offering up to 70% off RRP. SportPurusit sends personalised emails to its database to inform of new week-long sales launching[6].
History[edit]
SportPursuit was founded in 2011 by friends Adam Pikett[7], Victoria Walton, Rhys Jones and Luke Pikett [8] who were looking to make premium sports clothing more affordable[9].
Funding[edit]
Series A funding came in 2012 from Angel investors including Willian Reeve, Alexander Chesterman, Alex Saint[10] and private equity firm Draper Esprit[11]. SEP first invested in SportPursuit in 2015[12] which bought the total investments up to £16 million since launch[13].
In July 2021 BD-Capital invested in SportPursuit[14]. Along with the investment Graham Elton, Operating Partner at bd-capital, joined the team as Chairman[15].
Awards[edit]
In 2012 SportPursuit was finalist in Young Start-up of the Year [16]and went on to feature at number 11 in startups.co.uk's 2014 Startups 100.[17]
In 2012 SportPursuit won E-Commerce New Retailer of the Year Award at the eCommerce Awards for Excellence.[18]
In 2014 Adam Pikett, Victoria Walton, Luke Pikett and Rhys Jones were awarded Start Up Entrepreneur of the Year by Great British Entrepreneur Awards[19].
In 2016 Adam Pikett, Victoria Walton, Luke Pikett and Rhys Jones were recognised within retail technology Shift 100 in association with KPMG Small Business Accounting[20].
