Springs Shepherds are a South African association football club based in Springs, a city to the East of Johannesburg in South Africa. It is affiliated with the South African Football Association, Ekurhuleni Region.

History[edit]

The club was founded in 2000, and was initially named Tjakastad Junior Shepard the club competed in the amateur ranks until gaining promotion to the Third Division in 2013 and the Second Division in 2014. In the clubs fifth season in the Second Division they made it to the Last 32 of the Football Association Cup known as the Nedbank Cup in 2019 where they were defeated by Lamontville Golden Arrows led by Coach Steve Komphela.

In the 2020 Season the club was relocated to Witbank and renamed Witbank Shepard in the 2021 Season and were based at the Puma Stadium the club won their stream and made it to the playoffs to decide promotion to the National First Division and were unlucky to lose in the Provincial playoff.

Following the onset of the Covid-19 crisis the owners decided to sell the club to former footballer and Entrepreneur Raphael Nkateko Khoza. The status of Witbank Shepard was sold to Mpumalanga Black Aces in 2023.

The club has been relocated to Springs and has been renamed Springs Shepherds FC and now compete in the Third Division of the South African Football Pyramid. The club is in the process of building a High Performance Center and Academy in Springs which are planned to launch in the 2024/25 season.

The under 21 team competed in the Ekurhuleni Gold One Regional and reached the Quarter Finals.

Home Ground[edit]

The club plays its home games at the Sinaba Stadium in Daveyton.
