St Nicholas GAA Bristol
St Nicholas GAA Bristol are a Bristol-based GAA club that provide for Bristol and the surrounding areas including Bath, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Swindon, Weston-super-Mare, Exeter, Newport, Cardiff and further into Wales. St Nicks play in the Gloucestershire GAA Province within Britain GAA. Historically established as a Hurling and Camogie team before becoming dormant due to a lack of competitions, it has since been rejuvenated primarily as a successful Men's Gaelic Football Team.
History
St. Nicks GAA Bristol was founded in 1979 by Dan & Ann Loughlin, Mick & Mary Carey, Andy & Maureen Gray, and Liz Kavanagh and was centred around St. Nicholas RC Church in Easton, Bristol. In 1979, the St. Nicks GAA club was established as a very successful Camogie team winning numerous titles within Gloucestershire County and London. A decade later, a very successful Senior Hurling Team was run within the club and won many Gloucestershire GAA titles and narrowly missed out on an All-Britain Title in 1988. Due to the absence of Camogie and Hurling competitions in the coming years and travel costs becoming prohibitive, the club became dormant.
In 2001, the club was rejuvenated as a Senior Men's Gaelic football Club and has won numerous League and Championship titles within Gloucestershire.
