Stabex International Limited also known as Stabex is a privately owned oil and gas marketing company[1][2][3] headquartered in Nansana, Wakiso District in the Greater Kampala area of Uganda. Incorporated in 2009, the company markets petroleum products[4] including Fuel[5][6][7], LPG[8][9] and Lubricants and operates a network of filling stations and depots[10] across East and Central Africa,
History
Stabex began operations in 2009 with a single filling station on Hoima Road in Nansana, on the outskirts of Kampala. It has since expanded into an oil marketing company with a presence in Uganda, Kenya and Democratic Republic of Congo
In 2020, the company launched a liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)[11][12] brand in Kenya and Uganda, aiming to grow cooking-gas use in markets where LPG penetration[13] was below 20%
In October 2024, Stabex opened aviation fueling at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport[14] (JIKIA) in Nairobi an event attended by the Kenya's cabinet secretary for Energy and Petroleum, Opiyo Wandayi and Kenya Airports Authority chairman Caleb Kositany. That same month the company partnered with Airtel Uganda[15] to allow its customers to pay for fuel and other services via Airtel Money[15] at its Uganda stations, part of a push towards cashless payment.
Operations
Stabex describes its core business as the marketing of petroleum products[16][17][18] and the provision of convenience services through its retail network. As of 2025, sources reported the company operating more than 150 retail stations[19] and about 12 depots[20][21] across the region, suppling both commercial consumers and other fuel retailers[22], including in landlocked countries such as Uganda. An earlier account (2023) put the network at more than 70 retail stations and eight depots in Kenya and Uganda, supplying 550 bulk resellers, indicating rapid expansion in the intervening period.
The company also offers a cashless payment[15] product, the Stabex Card, alongside its fuel, gas and lubricant line. It holds ISO certifications for environmental management (ISO 9001:2015)
