Stalker is an Irish short horror film written and directed by Michael Antonio Keane in his directorial debut. It stars himself as a young student who is put in a disturbing situation when he his being stalked by an unknown own user on Facebook.
Stalker premiered at the Fresh Film Festival on March 7, 2019.
The film was chosen by the National Board of Review and the Irish Film Institute as one of the top 120 films out of over 1700 entries of the Fresh Film Festival. It was nominated for the Audience Award, and the writer, Michael Antonio Keane for Ireland's Best Young Filmmaker Award.
Plot[edit]
A young student, David Johnson, decides to take a walk through an abandoned field in order to clear his head.
As he is walking he receives a text message from an unknown user on his iPhone. His heart drops as his eyes focus on the message which reads "I see you". He begins to look around his surroundings in order to see if anyone is there, but discovers the fact that no sign of life is nearby.
Shortly after he begins to feel a horrifying presence in the area. He begins to hear eerie sounds and footsteps behind him. He begins to receive a swarm of text messages explaining what is happening and what he must do.
When he is confused and scared he begins to threaten the unknown user that he would call the police but quickly regrets that decision. Suddenly a loud electrical noise pierces through his ears leaving him temporarily deaf for a few minutes. He begins to question whether this is really happening or if it is all just in his head. He begins to question whether he in fact is the Stalker.
The film takes a dark turn when the is knocked out unconscious.

Stalker is Michael Antonio Keane's directorial debut. Michael stated in an interview that Stalker is "a film that shows how the human brain can trick us in to thinking something that is not really happening". [1]
Filming[edit]
The script for the film was written in November 2018. The filming began on the 28th of December 2018. The film was scheduled to be recorded over a 4-week period, but it fell behind schedule due to technical difficulties. The last scene was shot on the 11th of January 2019. Most of the scenes were filmed in Ireland.

Critical response[edit]
The Board of Directors at the Fresh Film Festival critiqued the display of text messages throughout the film for being 'unreadable'
Accolades[edit]
At the Fresh Film Festival heats, the film received a nomination for an Audience Award, and the director, Michael Antonio Keane, was nominated for Ireland's Young Filmmaker of the Year. The film was also released to YouTube, and reached over 2,000 views in less than two months.[2]
