Star Suvarna is a Kannada language general entertainment channel owned and operated by Star India. It was launched on 17 June 2007 by Jupiter Entertainment Venture (JEV) as Asianet Suvarna.[1] The channel broadcasts a mix of dailies, game shows, talk shows, movies, movie-based shows, and current affairs.

The channel was the part of Asianet communications limited owned by Jupiter media and Entertainment Venture (JEV) then and named as "Asianet Suvarna". Later in 2013, Star India acquired Asianet communications limited excluding the news channels from their parent company.[2] Star Suvarna, Asianet, Asianet Plus, Asianet Movies and Star Suvarna Plus became the part of Star India through this deal. For the week ending 1 July 2016, the channel ranked second among Kannada general entertainment channels in time spent per viewer and fourth overall viewership impressions ratings at an all-India level.[3]

On 25 July 2016, the channel was rebranded as Star Suvarna along with its sister channel Star Suvarna Plus.[4][5] The newly named channel aired the new big budget series Hara Hara Mahadeva.[6]

Star India launched its HD version on Tata Sky on 15 July 2017.[7][8]
