State Planning & Community Affairs Committee (Georgia House)
The House State Planning & Community Affairs Committee is a 14 member legislative body consisting of a chairman, a vice-chairman, a secretary, and 11 members. The Committee operates under a House mandate to evaluate legislation that affects Georgia’s local governments.[1]
Scope and jurisdiction[edit]
The House State Planning & Community Affairs Committee is responsible for legislation that affects Georgia’s local governments. Examples include legislation establishing "annexation, zoning procedures, authorities, state symbols, state holidays, state recognition of Indian tribes, and regional development centers." The committee also has jurisdiction over election law, local government planning, incorporating municipalities, and determining county boundaries.[1]
