State Plate is an original American reality television series seen exclusively on the "INSP" television network.

The series stars former American Idol winner "Taylor Hicks", who travels America tasting each state's most symbolic and popular foods, from appetizers and main courses to sides and desserts.

In his travels, "Taylor Hicks" visits a variety of locations including farms, ranches, restaurants, docks, markets, family homes, and festivals. In the process he uncovers stories and legends behind each state's food traditions and engages in a variety of food-related activities such as helping cook meals, catch fish, plow fields, and harvest vegetables.

In exploring these culinary traditions, Hicks and viewers learn about regional history and folklore, the ethnic heritage that created American foods, and a wide variety of tastes and flavors. For example, in one episode, Hicks learned how the "chimichanga" got its name, and in another, how "salt potatoes" became a staple on upstate New York dinner tables. Each program provides an opportunity for people to display pride in the uniqueness of their state.
