Stavros Fasoulas

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Stavros Fasoulas is a Finnish game programmer. He is mostly known as the designer and developer of the Commodore 64 games Sanxion, Delta and Quedex. The games were published by the British publisher Thalamus.

Sanxion (1986) and Delta (1987) were standard-issue shoot 'em ups. Sanxion had a split screen that allowed the action to be presented from two viewpoints. The music in Sanxion and Delta was composed by video game music composer Rob Hubbard. Quedex (1987) was a game with an original idea, where the player steered a ball in a maze. Fasoulas worked on a game entitled Cargo in 1988 with Simon Nicol but it was never released. Fasoulas's career as a game programmer was interrupted for his compulsory service in the Finnish Defence Forces.

For the Amiga, Fasoulas created a game called Galactic, a clone of Bubble Bobble.[1] Finnish computer magazine Pelit gave the game a good review.[1] Fasoulas never found a publisher for the game, and it was finally published on a covermount in the British computer magazine The One.[1]

In 1993, Fasoulas and Ilari Kuittinen founded Terramarque, one of the first two commercial video game developers of Finland, alongside Bloodhouse.[1] Terramarque released the first and only game, Elfmania, in 1994.[1] A second game, P.I.D., was cancelled mid-development, after which Fasoulas left the company.[1] Terramarque went on to merge with Bloodhouse to create Housemarque in 1995.[1]
