Stefania Skrabak is an American interior designer.[1] She is the founder of Art Home Garden, a design firm where her work contributions have received critical attention from HGTV editors.[1][2] In 2018, her company won the HGTV Faces of Design Award as the Editor's Pick for the "Countryside Escapes" category.[3]
Early life and education[edit]
Stefania Skrabak was born and raised in New York City, New York.[4] Her family is of Eastern European descent.[5]
She received degrees in fine arts and fashion design from Franklin University Switzerland, Marist College, Fashion Institute of Technology, and School of Visual Arts.[1]
Career[edit]
Skrabak founded Art Home Garden after working on the design and build of a 110 square-foot cabin.[5] Her cabin designs were later featured on HGTV.com and in a Westchester Magazine article covering the "she shed" trend.[6][5] In October 2015 and November 2016, two of her residential projects were included in Brownstoner Magazine's "The Insider", a weekly interior design/renovation column by design journalist and author Cara Greenberg.[4][7]
In 2017, Skrabak's designs for a loft apartment were selected as a HGTV Faces of Design Award nominee in the "Big City Digs" category, however another design was ultimately chosen.[8][9][10] In 2018, her company was re-nominated for the HGTV Faces of Design Award.[11] The competition received over 600,000 votes from the general public and was also judged by interior designers, HGTV executives, and a HGTV host.[12][13] Skrabak's designs for a 19th century farmhouse and separate bungalow won as the Editor's Pick for the "Countryside Escapes" category.[2][3][14] She originally purchased the 2100 square-foot home for $18,000 due to flood damage and completed renovations.[14] Her work was described by Domino Magazine contributor Blake Miller as "contrasting modern, masculine elements such as exposed metals and woods with soft fabrics and colors".[14] The project's landscaping designs were later noted in Elle Decor as an example of "rock garden ideas" incorporating square boulders and flagstones.[15]
Personal life[edit]
Skrabak lives in New York City and Phoenicia, New York.[4] On December 5, 2016, she gave birth to a son.[16]
