Stephen Zechariah (born 27 December 1988) is a Singaporean actor and music composer.[1] He composed his first song Saaral Mazhaiya. He also composed the first Indian indie musical trilogy: Usuraiya Tholaichaen, Sagiyae, and Vilagathey.
Personal Life[edit]
Stephen Zechariah was born and brought up in Singapore. He started playing music at a young age as a drummer. He started playing the keyboard at the age of 17 and soon started writing and composing his own songs.
Career[edit]
Stephen Zechariah made his big screen debut as an actor in 2016 for a Singaporean-Malaysian film Joe: The Black Assassin, where he also served as its composer. He composed his first song "Saaral Mazhaiya".
He also composed the Indian indie musical trilogy: Usuraiya Tholaichaen, Sagiyae and Vilagathey.
He has since starred in various scripted series, including mystery thriller Avathaaram (2019) for which he won the award Best Actor in a negative role[2] in Pradhana Vizha 2021[3] — an awards show by Mediacorp Vasantham, Singapore.
Stephen Zechariah also starred in leading roles in the musical drama Naam S1 (2020) directed by T.Suriavelan and Parambarai (2021) directed by Jaya Rathakrishnan. In Naam, he plays a character called Aryan whose also a musician. In Parambarai, his character Krishnayya evokes the identity and spirits of the Tamils in Singapore during the World War 2.
He has also collaborated with Tamil artists "Theruvorom" with Sri Lankan Tamil rapper MC SAI, "One Love One Life" with playback singer Sunitha Sarathy, "Alli Pookal" with Chennai-based singer Priyanka NK, "Unne Nenachaen" & "Adi Penne" featuring popular playback singer Srinisha Jayaseelan and "Nesamaguren" with Indian film playback singer Saindhavi Prakash.
His song Adi Penne has grossed over 80 million views on YouTube.[4]
