Stonestreet Studios is an American production company and screening acting conservatory.

Stonestreet Studios was formed in 1991 by the writer/director team of Gary O. Bennett and Alyssa Rallo Bennett, producing features including Rain Without Thunder, The Pack, and Rerun (film). The studio also acts as the screen acting residency program of NYU Tisch Drama, training the university's conservatory students in courses including screen acting, film/tv production, career management and more.

History[edit]

Stonestreet was founded in 1991 as the first screen acting residency program of NYU Tisch Drama. As a production company, the studio has produced independent features, pilots, digital series, music videos and live performances. Alumni of the Stonestreet screen acting program include Rachel Brosnahan, Miles Teller, Camila Mendes, Selma Blair, Beanie Feldstein, Skeet Ulrich, Danny Ramirez, Xosha Roquemore, Danny Jolles, Idina Menzel, Nik Walker and more.

In 1993, the studio produced Rain Without Thunder, written and directed by co-founder Gary O. Bennett and starring Jeff Daniels, Betty Buckley, Ming-Na Wen and Steve Zahn. The film was acquired and distributed by Orion Pictures.

Their 2009 feature The Pack (also released as Smoking | Nonsmoking), co-written by the Bennett and directed by Alyssa Rallo Bennett, stars Lucie Arnaz, Zach Galligan and featured a cameo appearance by Elisabeth Moss. The film was acquired and distributed by FilmRise.

The studio's 2018 feature Rerun (film) was completed with 11 of the residency program's actors making their feature film debuts. After being impress by the cast's work, actor Christopher Lloyd signed on to join the film in a supporting role, bookending the film. Rerun premiered at the 2018 Woodstock Film Festival followed by a live Q&A with Lloyd and director Alyssa Rallo Bennett.[1][2]

Stonestreet has also produced over 300 short films, including Teacher of the Year, starring Rachel Dratch, later adapted into the feature film Tenured; and Mia, currently in development as a feature adaptation. Their pilots include Paradise by the Dashboard Light, a sci-fi drama featuring Francesca Reale and Sea Shimooka; and Videola, a crime thriller starring Sean Young.

In 2019, Stonestreet held staged readings of their original play Colorado at New York's Playwrights Horizons, featuring Sean Young and Victoria Clark.
