Storm in Our City is a 1958 Iranian comedy film written and directed by Samuel Khachikian. This movie shows the first-time appearance of a well-known comedy trio. Samuel Khachikian came up with the story and put together the film himself.[1]
Story
A wounded madman (Arman) runs away from a mental hospital and hides out in an empty-looking house. In this house lives Simin, a recently widowed woman, with her child. Simin meets a young man named Saeed, and with him, she finds new hope to continue her life. At the same time, Saeed's sister, who is friends with a fun-loving boy, accidentally comes to that house. Before her brother or the police can help, the madman saves the girl and stops the boy. But then, he gets caught.[2]

Production
This was the first-ever movie made by Azhir Film Studio. Joseph Vaziriyan and Shahrokh Rafi put together the film as producers. Samuel Khachikian came up with the story and directed the movie. Vahak Vartanyan was the cameraman. Bozorg Lashkari made the music, and Abdollah Olfat wrote the song lyrics. Elaheh and Viguen sang the songs. The behind-the-scenes work was done by Suren Khachikian, Rubik, Vanik, and Arakel Babakhanyan. The film was shown for the first time on April 13, 1958, in Moulin Rouge, Diana, and Iran cinemas.[3]
Restored Version Screening
The film Storm in Our City was fixed up in 2017 with help from the National Film Archive of Iran and the Bologna Film Restoration Center. Three other well-known films by Khachikian—Panic, Strike, and Crossroads of Events—were also restored. The newly restored version of Storm in Our City was put on by the Cinematheque of the House of Artists, with help from the National Film Archive. It was shown on January 21, 2019, in the Naseri Hall of the House of Artists. Parviz Jahed reviewed and discussed the film.[4]
The Start of the Comedy Trio
In this film, the three-man group (Garsha Sepehrnia and Motosselani) came together by chance. People showed interest in their performance, and this helped create their well-loved comedy team. This was the first time that Motosselani appeared in a movie as an actor.
