Straight Six is an American Rock band based in Denver, Colorado, which formed in 2017 in Lafayette, Colorado.[1] The band consists of lead vocalist Jay Quintana, guitarists Eric Schaudies, bassist Glen Drieth and drummer Joey Shapiro.
Straight Six released their debut album *Full Circle* on October 18, 2018.[2]
Band history
- In January 2020 it was announced Straight Six would be playing the 2020 Rocklahoma festival in Pryor, Oklahoma[3]
- In September 2019 The band opened three shows (Missoula, Mt., Louisville, Ky. and Morristown, NY) for the rock band Tesla on the Shock world tour[4]
- In December 2018 Straight Six's self-titled EP was voted one of the top 10 albums of the year by SleazeRoxx.com, coming in at #7, beating out Judas Priest who placed in the #9 slot.[5]
- In December 2018 the album *Full Circle* was also voted one of the 20 top albums of 2018, coming in at #9 by SleazeRoxx.com readers, beating out bands like Great Van Fleet, Ghost, The Struts and Dee Snider.
- Prior to the formation of Straight Six, Joey Shapiro played with the band XYZ.[6]
- In December 2018, the band won the Heart For Hayden Battle of the Bands.[7]
- In June 2018 the band played the 2018 Freedom Festival in Golden, Colorado with Queensryche, Extreme, Great White, Steelheart and Vixen.[8]
- In May 2018 the band opened for Mr. Big guitar player Paul Gilbert at the Oriental Theater in Denver, Colorado.[9]
Musical style and influences
The musical style of the band is influenced by many of the early 80's rock bands[10] with a sound similar to Van Halen, Extreme, Aerosmith.[11]
