Subexya Bhadel (Nepali: शुभेच्छा भडेल; born 1986) is a Nepalese fashion designer[1] currently based in New York, USA. Her boutique is called Crossroad Apparel.[2] Her concept visualization and illustration skills in fashion designing, as well as a steady participation in international events, are the reasons she is being noticed in recent years.
Early life and education
Subexya Bhadel was born in Salyan district of Nepal, where she also went to primary school. Later, she was raised in Dang and Banke districts, where she finished her secondary schooling. She then completed her high school in Kathmandu district from Kathmandu Don Bosco College.[3] She was admitted to Lord Buddha Education Foundation, Kathmandu, affiliated to Sikkim Manipal University[4] where she completed her Bachelor of Science in Fashion Design. She further studied business administration, earning her Masters (MBA) from the same university.
Career
Bhadel has over 7 years of work experience in the fashion industry. After her bachelor's degree, she established her own fashion studio and boutique named Crossroad Apparel in Kathmandu, with a goal to transform people's lifestyles. Since then, she has also been designing apparel for many of Nepal's fashion icons, celebrities, and beauty pageant contestants such as Miss Nepal.
Passionate about fashion, she always aspired to become one of the successful fashion designers of Nepal. Her most notable achievement was during Miss Earth 2012, which took place on 24 November 2012 at the Versailles Palace in Alabang, Muntinlupa, Philippines, where Nagma Shrestha wore a gown designed by her and won a special award titled Miss Hannah's Formal Wear.[5]
She also spoke at Startup Grind Kathmandu [6] powered by Google for Entrepreneurs in 2015.
Bhadel showcased her fall collection[7] at the Festival of Globe (FOG) 2016[8] held in San Jose, California, with a mission to empower and integrate global cultures and communities through Film Arts, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, and Folk Arts.
