Subhash Khanna is a laparoscopic surgeon from Assam, India.

Life and Work

He completed his MBBS from Gauhati Medical College.

After MBBS, he started teaching at Gauhati Medical College. He took the post of a professor in 1999 at the same college. He received the Dr. B. C. Roy Award, instituted by the Medical Council of India in 2010 as a medical teacher.[1]

He currently serves as the medical director of the Swagat Group of Hospitals.[2][3] He is the president of the Association of Robotic and Innovative Surgeons, which is reported to be India's first association of robotic surgeons[4]

Memberships

He received Honorary Fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCS Edinburgh) in 2020.[5][6]

He is the member of The Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). [7] [8]

He is elected as the executive member of Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons,[9] and mentor at AIC NIPER-Guwahati Foundation which is under the NITI Aayog body of the Government of India.[10] He is also nominated as the executive council member of Cotton University.[11]

Research Work

His research articles are published in various national and international journals[12]. Recently, he was a part of the study from Northeast India, research paper titled: "Gallstone Physicochemical Properties and Heavy Metal Concentrations Associated with Gallbladder Carcinogenesis in Assam, India," featured in the journal Chemical Research in Toxicology (ACS), which highlights the connection between toxic gallstones and increasingly prevalent gallbladder cancer in Assam.[13][14]

Editor

He is the editor-in-chief of International Journal of Advanced Robotic and Innovative Surgery, published by Wolters Kluwer - Medknow Publications.[15]. He is on the editorial board of Journal of Minimal Access Surgery.[16]
