Subzero, sub-zero (US: /sʌbˈzɪroʊ/ UK: /sʌbˈzɪərəʊ/ sub-zeer-oh) or subfreezing (/sʌbˈfriːzɪŋ/ sub-free-zing) [1] has two close but different meaning. In the United States of America and other counties that use the imperial system it refers to temperatures below 0 °F (−18 °C).[2][3][4] In countries that use the metric system it refers to temperatures below 0 °C (32 °F).[1] Subzero and sub-zero a combination of the prefix sub (below) and zero. Subfreezing is a combination of the prefix sub and freezing. In some cases subzero and sub-zero can refer to any number under zero[5], but they generally refer to temperature.[2]
